Though it's still not clear whether TONTO is going to perform in the mix as a performing artiste or part of the PR mechanism of DB Records.
Regardless of these twists, some 'schools of thought' have compared the creative abilities of the female acts in two competing music labels now - TONTO DIKEH and TIWA SAVAGE (who's signed to MAVIN Records - founded by Don Jazzy) - tipping the former to be slightly a better bargain than the latter.

Here's 5 Simple Reasons why Tonto Dikeh is deemed a better option than Tiwa Savage:

* Tonto Dikeh's brand has an already huge audience, from her exploits in Nollywood;
* 'Controversy' is her middle name - and Tonto attract such with ease - and 'negative news' is most times good for business;
* Tiwa Savage tries too hard to be sexy - it's not by ability, it's natural and Tonto Dikeh has got it!;
* Tonto has an advantage of possessing at-least two major talents - Acting & Music - though her exploits in Music so far is arguable;

@xdochconcepts: Our guest tonight on is a Political Analyst and admirer of true democratic values... He is no other than the Project Coordinator of Oyo state Youths Act Now [ #OYANow] movement, Mr @Asccheim.

@Asccheim: Good Evening.

@xdochconcepts: So we start. First off, let me say congratulations on the evolution of #OYANow at this moment - KUDOS.
What's your overall assessment of the national polity in-terms of infrastructure development?

@Asccheim: We're miles away from where we ought to be as a result of long years of neglect and poor planning. Let's look at education. One would pause and ask why most of our school (primary & secondary) buildings are dilapidated.
My simple explanation for that is no provision for maintenance when it was constructed (poor planning) and not upholding the importance of that building to the overall development our country & as a people (neglect).

So for our neglect, poor planning and poor maintenance culture, we're taking ourselves away from development.

@xdochconcepts: Ok. You mentioned a critical area which is "EDUCATION". This brings us to the very next question - Quality of graduates from Nigerian tertiary schools falls annually, what do you think is responsible?

@Asccheim: This is due to the fact that (1) policy makers/schools have failed to prepare d graduates for life outside the 4 walls of d school; (2) Absence of a National dream (where we aim to be as a country); and (3) Why do our schools offer some or even majority of applicants a course they never applied for?

@xdochconcepts: In your own words, how best would you describe our dear nation NIGERIA?

@Asccheim: A country that came into existence as a result of conspiracy of some colonialists backed up by injustice.

@xdochconcepts: Now to the crux of the matter, coming from the city of Ibadan, what does the movement #OYANow represent?

@Asccheim: Let me start with the full meaning of the acronym, #OyaNow [Oyo State Youths Act Now]. To simply put, #OyaNow is an/a initiative/movement to awaken Oyo state citizens to their role.

@xdochconcepts: And what are the CORE objectives of this initiative widely known as #OYANow?

@Asccheim: (1) To enlighten the youths and citizens on election, governance and government-monitoring; (2) Mobilizing and re-orientating the citizens towards 2015 general elections; (3) It's a platform to harness & exchange knowledge,ideas & skills of our generation towards creating a benchmark for political office aspirants and governance;

(4) Ensure dialogue within the rank of the youths which will lead to effective policy that will ensure the overall development of our dear state; (5) Election Monitoring.

@xdochconcepts: Quite laudable initiative I must say. But how do plan to mobilize the masses to achieving these objectives?

@Asccheim: We've been meeting to discuss various issues. We also intend organizing rallies in halls, markets and streets towards informing citizens what #OyaNow is all about.
We are also on the verge of assessing the Oyo state's budget for the year 2014 towards ensuring accountability on the part of the Government.

Our media team will soon commence interview sessions with various gubernatorial aspirants for the citizens to be privy to their blueprints and hold them accountable for that if any of them eventually emerges.
Overall #OyaNow is not just hashtag/online campaign, it's about #MALT (More Action, Less Talk)!

@xdochconcepts: #OYANow has a massive conference coming-up on Thursday June 12 2014 - what should participants expect to gain from it?

@Asccheim: VALUE ADDITION in terms of knowing more about governance and what their role is in entrenching good governance, ensuring accountability and fighting corruption.

@Asccheim: We, as citizens, are sorry for making them go through this avoidable trauma but there's light at d end of the tunnel. So they shouldn't

It's Now An OPEN SECRET: D'BANJ's Music Career Has Finally ENDED?!

Imagine this about five or six years ago and one cannot even see a reasonable fault in the career-path of a young man who was ready to take-on the music dominance by all means 'natural'.
Few years on after his purported split with his huge mentor/ producer/partner Michael 'Don Jazzy' Collins, it now seems just clear that what 'was to be' is 'now gone' for one of the then Nigeria's most promising talents - Dapo 'D'Banj' Oyebanjo.

Don't get this piece wrong, his personality could still fetch him some top dollars here & there but the current situation is not guaranteed for the next few years.

For Banga Lee, it was all about the fame and pseudo-praises - for true superstars it's always the music contents and how such connect with fans that leave a lasting legacy.
For emphasis, true legends like late Bob Marley, late Michael Jackson, living legend Tuface Idibia, living legend King Sunny Ade - represent huge greater legacy.

Twice he was sought for major collaborations which were supposed to be huge positive turnarounds for, not for D'Banj now but, the original song versions - and twice he had failed to find his lost courage. First was the remix to the smashing original hit 'Kukere' by Iyanya, and just recently a cross-over hit (and supposed alternative national anthem) 'Double Wahala' by revived Oritse Femi.

Yes, he is a good entertainer - but without a viable content, that means nothing according to Standards.
An exclusive interview recently granted with one of the top executives at Music Television (MTV) revealed that D'Banj is really not a bankable artist internationally (for the long term); as opposed to many opinions in Nigeria. Surprisingly the top MTV executive chose Bankole 'Banky W' Wellington ahead of D'Banj, with of-course Tuface Idibia topping the list from The African continent.

Probably admirers of D'Banj might be struggling it off saying "well he's still making the millions of Naira". I quite agree, and I'm a fan of him too. But it should also understood that music business always thrive for the long term, and international investors recognize that trend as well.
He might have won the last edition of the World Music Awards where selections are huge based on fans sentiments and nominations, but have you also wondered why he lost out woefully at the recently held MTV MAMA Awards?
At the awards of Africans by Africans for Africans, he wasn't even nominated in one single category!

Reiterating - this piece is not supposed to relate a solution but it's an eye-opener for many fans who are still glued to sentiments to note that, to be a legend then that personality must have a legacy. At this moment, D'Banj has not attained that level yet.
Despite his self-craved noise about him making millions of naira, the 'yellow light' is flashing already.

When Mrs Dora Nkem Akunyili was the Zonal Secretary (South-east) of the Petroleum (Special) Trust Fund in 1998, Nigerian doctors gave her what many of her family members considered to be a health scare. They said she had a growth and needed surgery.
Akunyili, then 44, decided to travel to the United States, first to get a second opinion and then undergo the prescribed surgery. The bill for the medical trip was $17,000, including $12,000 for the surgery.

During pre-surgery check-up in the US, the doctors told her the Nigerian doctors had made a wrong diagnosis and that she did not need any surgery. It was said to be a minor issue that medication would solve.
She thanked the doctors and, to their surprise, said she was going to return the money meant for the surgery to PTF. That was strange. Nigerian government officials had devised a way of making sure such monies were not returned to the treasury.

The hospital informed the PTF, under the leadership of Major Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, about one honest Nigerian they had found. Buhari, himself a straightforward person, was very impressed. He wrote a letter to Akunyili commending her honesty.

Then came 2001. President Olusegun Obasanjo wanted to appoint a director-general for the National Agency for Drug and Food Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and asked for the recommendation of an honest Nigerian pharmacist. Akunyili’s name promptly came up. Someone who had heard about her PTF record recommended her.

There was a little problem, a Nigerian problem. Objections were raised that the minister of health, Prof. ABC Nwosu, was an Igbo from Anambra State and NAFDAC, being a powerful agency under the ministry, should not be headed by another Igbo from Anambra.

It was also argued that the market for fake and substandard products were controlled by the Igbo, with Onitsha – also in Anambra State – a major centre for the illicit business. She was going to protect “her people”, the antagonists said.
Obasanjo, stubborn to the cause, ignored the observations and appointed her.

She went on to do a credible job and ended up as one of the most outstanding public officers in Nigeria’s history, celebrated locally and globally.
She had lost a sister to fake drugs, and that was perhaps the impetus she needed to go on the offensive.

MISDIAGNOSIS

Meanwhile, Akunyili always went abroad for check-ups and she was always given an all-clear. She continued to look robust and energetic, and took up another government job as minister of information and communications.

But on July 13, 2013, something strange happened to her. She was preparing to travel to the United States to receive an award. The following day was her birthday. Her 59th, precisely. Then she fell ill. She was physically weak and having pains. She decided to go ahead with her trip and attend to her health in the United States.
It was while she was there that new checks were carried out. Alas, she had cancer. The original diagnosis in 1998 was right. But the diagnosis at the point of surgery was wrong.
She became seriously ill and there were fears she could lose her life. She was in the hospital for months and only returned to Nigeria this year when the doctors said she was improving.

Her last public appearance was at the National Conference in Abuja, where she was a delegate. Pictures of a frail-looking Akumyili soon went viral on the internet.
Multiple reports could not ascertain the type of cancer, but there are several pinpointing cervical.

Globally, cervical cancer is the second most common and the fifth deadliest cancer in women, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO).
Akunyili died on June 7, 2014 in India after surviving many death rumours.
