100Days+ ASUU Strike: NANS Have Failed Students!
Forget the meaning or its objectives, for now all those features count for nothing! Blame no individual for the current misfortune facing Nigerian students, but indeed the collective fault is quite visible.
Unfortunately, the supposed principles that the biggest body of students in the country was built upon have gradually degraded with time.
It is therefore not surprising to observe varying factors of older men still occupying the executive positions within the administrative realm of NANS. With little or no commitment to the greater welfare of the Nigerian students, rather they try to secure their own personal bargains by dinning with the looters and politicians. One could wonder for how long will this embarrassing trend continue...
Unlike how the politicians would remark, "100 days in office"; but in this case it could be re-phrased as "100 days of strike", what has been your assessment of the ongoing strike action embarked on by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) due to the non-implementation of agreement signed with the Federal Government in 2009.
Cognizance of the present situation, my opinion, I wouldn't want to blame ASUU for 'fighting' for the future of tertiary education, but the totality of students have failed to critically understand the sacrificial demand this moment portends. Such a pity there hasn't been a convergent voice by students supporting the 'struggle' championed by ASUU. Probably with time, the confused ones will learn and understand.
Let's make this post interactive - share your opinions on the over 100days of ASUU strike, what's your assessment of NANS, ASUU, and the FG?
While the strike continues helplessly...
